Albino – Most Popular Ferret Colors
Ferrets truly make good pets at home. Many interested buyers want to purchase ferrets due to their active and enthusiastic personas. Also, since they are generally energetic creatures, they can definitely liven up your house and also give you such enthralled effects.
Ferrets have different colors and patterns. Most of the time, their color is the primary basis for people in their decision on what ferret to buy. Among these ferret colors, albino ferrets are the most popular.
Basically, an albino ferret lacks certain pigmentation which then results to their coat having the plain color of white. Aside from their white coat, their eyes are in color pink or red, and their noses are in pink. It has been widely known that the albino color is the most popular among ferret colors. In fact, most owners prefer albino ferrets since their color makes them a lot easier to find especially in the dark. Aside from this reason, most owners also prefer albino ferrets since they are aesthetically beautiful.
Studies have shown that albino ferrets have problems regarding their sight. However, such a deficiency can be considered as a normal thing among all ferrets. In fact, their eye problems are very much compensated by their heightened senses of hearing and smelling. This is probably the reason that they have become good hunters in the fields. Even back in the old days, hunters prefer albino ferrets in their hunting since they are efficient in catching their prey in dark holes and burrows. Also, with their pure white color as white as the snow, they can easily be spotted after coming out of a certain hole.
The color albino is generally a genetic recessive trait of sable ferrets. If you truly want to own an albino ferret, then it is advisable that you purchase from a ferret breeder to make sure that it is a true albino. You cannot necessarily determine if a mother is carrying a sable or an albino ferret. You will only know such when the babies, or kits, have already been born.
Purchasing an albino ferret is just as the same as purchasing another color. This means that you will still have to feed it with the same nutritional meals and take good care of it just like any other ferret. You will also have to provide it with the much needed care and attention, just like any other ferret that you may have. In addition, you can train him in being neat inside your house and even teach him in doing some tricks. However, if you do not want to purchase a red eyed albino ferret, then there are also other albino ferrets which possess black or even blue eyes.
Ultimately, even though an albino ferret may be the most popular among other colors, you must not depend your judgment purely on it. Clearly, the color of a ferret has absolutely nothing to do with its intelligence, behavior and traits. If you want to buy a ferret, other characteristics are also important such as personality and behavior.
